Mercedes-Benz W201 C-Class(190E)

The first C-Class was the W201 C-Class more commonly known as the 190 produced in 1982. The 190 was designed to be a compact sedan, light and sporty. $600 Million was spent in the developement of this vehicle. Mercedes-Benz was aware that a failure in this line could bring down the whole brand. Therefore, extra care was spent in it's developement. It was by far overengineered.

The exterior was definately nice. It is elegant and sporty. An upright grille with large headlights. The whole body shape looked like one piece. The exterior is created through many hours of wind tunnel testing and is designed for optimum performance. It resembles an S-Class but with smaller dimensions.

The interior of the 190 is superb. Seats are either upholstered in fine leather or cloth. A wood grain centre console adds to the overall beauty of the interior. Armrests are standard in the front and in the rear seats. Features such as air conditioning and audio systems are standard. As previously said, the 190 was overengineered. The interior is what you would expect to find in a Mercedes-Benz.

The safety features on the 190 are very ahead of it's time. It had a specially built antiroll cage. It also had airbags available along with ABS(Antilock Brake System) brakes and seat belt pretensioners. The 190 arrived with various engines. This chart will help you understand the classification.
